Flystrike Prevention

EweFlystrike can be a major problem in sheep and lambs following warm and wet weather

Initial signs of flystrike are:
  • irritation
  • itchiness
  • restlessness
Wool struck areas become discoloured and can fall off exposing raw tissue underneath.

The sheep will become lethargic and can often be found separate from the mob or trying to hide.
Death can occur with treatment.
What should you do to prevent this occuring on your property?
  • Avoid dags by tailing, crutching and good worm control
  • Shearing prior to summer followed by treatment with an effective product
