We see a lot of very unpleasant looking growths in our patients. Sometimes it is clear what they are, but normally we need to do a biopsy to find out.
Quite often we get a surprise when what seems to be a very ugly looking mass turns out be completely benign, and removal results in a complete cure.
The goal of a presurgical biopsy is to find out whether the lump is malignant, so that we can determine whether removal is possible and how much tissue will need to be removed.
