Rabbits

Vaccination against Rabbit Calicivirus (Viral Hamorrhagic disease) is available.
All rabbits living in or close to rural areas should receive a vaccination against this disease.
  • Calicivirus does exist in the wild rabbit population, it is a virus that can remain in the environment for a long period of time and is fatal to most rabbits that catch it.
  • Rabbits less than 12 weeks of age require two vaccinations three weeks apart.
  • Rabbits older than 12 weeks of age require a single shot.
  • Annual re-vaccination is recommended in rabbits that are at high risk ie. living in rural areas.
  • All rabbits receive a full health check prior to vaccination.
