Adult Cattle Dehorning Accreditation

It is a legal requirement that any cattle beast (of any age) undergoing disbudding or dehorning must be under the influence of appropriately placed and effective local anaesthetic (as a minimum) pain relief.

FVS offers our clients group dehorning accreditation which involves theory, a demonstration, and a practical training session on live cattle on a chosen property with adequate facilities and horned cattle available to dehorn on the day. The session usually takes 2-3 hours depending on the numbers attending and each client then has local anaesthetic authorized on their script for dehorning purposes only.

A reaccreditation session and repeat script is required annually where the client’s knowledge and dehorning skills are checked with additional refresher training if required at the time.

The cost is shared equally amongst those attending and is time-based.
