Are you an experienced Head Nurse or senior nurse leader looking for your next challenge? At Hamilton Vets, we’re seeking a motivated and supportive Head Nurse to lead our dedicated team and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our busy, well-equipped clinic.

About Us

Hamilton Vets is a thriving small animal clinic, proudly supporting our community with high-quality veterinary care. Alongside our modern facilities, we also operate a popular boarding cattery.

We’ve recently invested in new X-ray and dental machines, and our team has the advantage of being based in the same building as the Veterinary Referral Services

clinic — providing access to specialist expertise and collaboration when needed.

As part of Franklin Vets, you’ll also be backed by a well-established support office covering HR, finance, marketing, IT And Inventory so you can focus on leadership and clinical excellence.

The Role

As Head Nurse, you’ll provide strong leadership to our 6 veterinary nurses, while working closely with our team of veterinarians and offering guidance and support to our customer service team of 3. This is a leadership-focused role with a balance of hands-on clinical work and people management.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading, mentoring, and developing the nursing team
• Supporting and guiding the customer service team
• Rostering, training, and performance management
• Maintaining exceptional standards of patient care and client service
• Working alongside the Branch Manager and vets to ensure smooth clinic operations
• Driving a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture
• Participating in the weekend roster (1 in 6)

What We’re Looking For

• A qualified veterinary nurse (Diploma or Bachelors)
• Proven experience in a leadership or head nurse role within a veterinary clinic
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A confident, proactive leader who enjoys supporting and developing people
• Someone who thrives in a busy, progressive clinical environment
