Dr Taryn van Meygaarden BVSc

Taryn grew up in Hamilton and graduated from Massey University in 2003. After working in Wellington, Auckland, and the UK, she returned to Hamilton in 2008 and has worked for Hamilton Vets since March 2024.

Taryn is our lead veterinarian and loves general practice, particularly dentistry and soft tissue surgery, and has an interest in animal nutrition and behaviour. She loves meeting puppies and kittens, building relationships with patients and owners, and following them through to their senior years. She is one of our cat-friendly advocates at Hamilton Vets.

Outside of work, she is kept busy with her two sons and two mixed-breed dogs – Rocky and Layla. You may spot her at quiz nights, local eateries, walking the dogs and cheering on the sideline at junior football!
