Dr Paul Eason BVM&S MANZCVS (Surgery, Emergency & Critical Care Medicine)

Dr Paul Eason

Dr Paul Eason leads the surgery and critical care services at Franklin Vets purpose-built small animal hospital in Pukekohe.

Paul graduated in 1989 from Edinburgh University, being awarded the Class Medal for Anatomy. Two years in mixed practice followed before he moved entirely into small animal practice. In 1997, he moved to New Zealand and joined Frankin Vets. Paul would describe himself as a passionate advocate for animal health and sees his role as representing the patients who cannot speak for themselves. His best days involve the challenges of helping critically injured or sick patients, especially when power tools are involved.

His passion for surgery and emergency medicine has resulted in two periods of study and further education, achieving unusual double Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in Surgery in 2000, then Emergency and Critical Care Medicine in 2003.

Paul is a member of:

  • The International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society
  • The International Society of Feline Medicine
  • The New Zealand Vet Association

Paul is continually looking for new techniques to help his patients. This has included driving the introduction of several new services to the practice, both in diagnostics and surgery.  Over the years, he has been the first to introduce several advanced surgical techniques to the clinic, including TTO, TTA, and TPLO surgery for cruciate injury, TECALBO surgery for chronic ear infections, and advanced fracture repair techniques.

Any enquiries about cases are welcome at any time, either to the clinic on 09 238 7486, or email referralsurgery@fvs.co.nz
